First Timers
Thinking about participating but not
sure if the Sole Burner is for you? How long is the Run/Walk? Can my
kids take part in it?
Let us answer some of your questions .
. .
- People of all ages take part. You
move at your own pace. There are strollers, wagons and wheelchairs
along with men, women, teens, moms, dads, kids, and grandparents.
Even those who don't like to exercise have fun at this event.
- The walk/run is 3.1 miles. (Sorry,
no bikes, roller blades or dogs are permitted.)
- If you received
the information letter with the enclosed registration form from
the Ross Romenesko Team, you may complete and mail the form -
including the entry fee to The Ross Romenesko Team at 3801
W. Spencer Street Appleton, WI 54914
by March 30th. Or, simply register
on line. As a member of the Ross Romenesko Team, you will receive
a T-shirt with the team name and logo on the back, and the pledges
you solicit will be added to the team's total. If you’re
unavailable on May 8th, but would still like to show your
support, please send your pledge to The Ross Romenesko Team
at 3801 W. Spencer
Street -- Appleton, WI 54914. Make your checks payable to: The
American Cancer Society.
- If you feel uncomfortable asking
for pledges, that's alright. Some members of the team pledge
what they can, and have fun taking part in the biggest and best
Cancer Walk in Wisconsin.
- You will need to be at City Park
by approximately 8:15 AM. We would love to have you in our team
picture which is taken at 8:30 AM. Last year there were over 300
team members.
- Many kids love running the
Thrivent Financial Kids 1 K Fun Run @ 8:15 AM. This is for ages 3 to 10. This is a
thrilling run around City Park, alone or with mom or dad at
their side. The kids even get a bag of prizes at the finish
line!
- Other kids enjoy running the more
challenging Thrivent Financial Kids 1 Mile Fun Run (ages 13 and
under) at 8:30.
- To you runners out there: you will
start at 9:00 AM for the 5K Run.
- You may be eligible to win a prize
if you have pledges totaling $50 or more per entrant. It is such
a fun bonus for the kids when they find out they won a prize for
their hard work. This event means a lot to them. They usually
know someone who has been touched by cancer.
- For the schedule of the day's
events visit the Sole Burner
website.
- After the race, come join in the Celebration
of Life Party. It's just a little get together hosted by the
Romeneskos annually at their home at 3801 W. Spencer Street --
Appleton, WI 54914 in appreciation of all of your past and
current support. There will be food, drink, live music by ?,
soccer, volleyball, and of course, camaraderie.
We hope this answers some of your
questions. Give the Sole Burner a try. It's especially fun with
family, and friends. Get your group together and start a new
tradition. Help us reach our team goal of $15,000.
You'll feel great!
